WELCOME TO THE 10th SYMPOSIUM ON ELECTROCHEMICAL METHODS IN CORROSION RESEARCH
After Manchester 82, Toulouse 85, Zurich 88, Helsinki 91, Lisbon 94, Trento 97, Budapest 2000, Ysermonde 2003 and Dourdan 2006, the Xth International Symposium on Electrochemical Methods in Corrosion Research (EMCR-2012) will be held for the first time outside Europe from November 18 to 23, 2012. For this event we chose a fantastic resort, the "Salinas do Maragogi", located at Maragogi (Alagoas), Brazil.
Maintaining the tradition of the previous conferences, this EMCR Symposium intends to put researchers from Academia and Industry in close contact to discuss relevant issues related to corrosion prevention and control using electrochemical techniques as well as their mechanisms. The participants are invited to stay close together in this gorgeous place surrounded by the blue-green Atlantic Ocean and tropical landscapes where fruitful scientific contacts can continue between and after the Symposium sessions.
Without forgetting the classic topics in corrosion, in this EMCR we intend to focus on the use of local electrochemical techniques to investigate corrosion phenomena that was initiated in Dourdan as important developments have been made in this field since the last EMCR Symposium. We also wish to emphasize the use of electrochemical methods to understand and control corrosion processes taking place when structural materials are in contact with biofuels and used in the oil and gas industry under harsh conditions as these are challenging new energetic frontiers.
Together with fundamentals research topics, industrial applications and developments in corrosion control using electrochemical methods will also be covered. Contributions coupling electrochemical and non-electrochemical methods will be welcomed as well.
