Description

Any product, designed according to reliability-based criterion, which considers the uncertainties associated with the product failure modes, including the external loading model, will present the design reliability only if the parts manufacturing processes provides the required accuracy, repeatability and capability to ensure the design requirements.

In order to analyze the manufacturing process, reliability techniques can be applied to prevent some failure modes and to foreseen the probability of failure as a function of the number of manufactured parts.

The manufacturing process can be modeled using the Block Diagram, based on the assumption that each step presents a specific reliability.

The manufacturing step reliability is dependent on machine tool, operator and tool reliability. The reliability estimate of each element can be based on the analysis of a database that presents the registers of tool exchange and machine maintenance.
