About the Group: |
|
The sheer diversity of different materials, processes and economies of scale characteristic of
modern manufacturing enterprises poses a special challenge to the education of future engineers.
We are seeing an ever-increasing demand for precision manufacturing. Conventional manufacturing
practice is undergoing deep changes as novel, more competitive strategies; methodologies and
tools are advanced that make more efficient use of technologies and resources. Regarding the
mission of the university as to enable personal formation, to create knowledge and to disseminate
it, these tasks are being tackled in the context of the Brazilian manufacturing engaged in the
global market. The subjects and approaches performed by this group involve the study of mechanical
behavior of materials applied to development and optimization of mechanical fabrication and
manufacturing processes, including the following research topics: a) development and optimization of
manufacturing processes and technologies; b) tooling, forming dies and moulds; c) process planning; d)
machining and forming machines. This group offers several courses and subjects for under graduating,
graduation and continued education on these topics.
